- Join a squad: To be licensed in Vermont, you’ll need to have your national certification and be affiliated with a Vermont EMS agency. Contact your local agency to find out how to join their squad and what a typical membership and schedule looks like. - Sign up for your local EMT class: The first step toward certification is to take an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course.
