  • Register in the Responder Management System. This is the volunteer database. The system verifies licenses and credentials, tracks trainings and contacts volunteers during emergencies. Recommend reviewing the help with registration document, before beginning registration.
  • After you register you will be sent an email asking to complete a background check. All volunteers must complete a background check for the MRC program, prior background checks from outside Vermont MRC organizations are not accepted. .  A background check to vet volunteers is important, because you may be asked to work with vulnerable populations.
  • Attend an orientation or unit meeting. Here, you’ll learn about upcoming events and receive a badge and shirt for use when volunteering during public events.
