  • Register in the Responder Management System. This is our volunteer database and primary communications tool with our volunteers. The system verifies licenses and credentials, tracks trainings and contacts volunteers during emergencies. The more information you provide in your profile, the better able we are to match you with volunteer opportunities.
  • After you register, you will be sent an email asking to complete a background check. All volunteers must complete a background check for the MRC program. Prior background checks from outside Vermont MRC organizations are not accepted. A background check to vet volunteers is important, because you may be asked to work with at-risk and marginalized populations as part of your service.
  • Complete MRC Basic Training. You’ll be connected to our training database, where you’ll receive access to free in person and virtual training to perform your role. Some of our trainings are available for professional credit, and we accept trainings that you may have already taken through your employer, school or other institutions.
